Dubai Horse Racing Festival History

Dubai Horse RacingThe Dubai World Cup was first run in 1996 and it was the brain child of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who is the ruler of Dubai, and he dreamt of making Dubai the Horse Racing capital of the world. The first part was to build Nad Al Sheba Racecourse who held its first meeting in 1992 which was the first step to turning Dubai into a great racing country.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wanted to create race that would get the attention of the Racing World and he achieved that with the Dubai World Cup when it became the Worlds Richest Race. The race was received so well that it has grown and grown since then with horses coming from all different countries to compete with winners coming from all over the globe. It has now become a truly global event that the world enjoy watching as well as the people of Dubai who love to stage the race.
