The Dubai World Cup is the richest horse race in the World and is run over 1m 2f for horses aged 4 years and over on the last Saturday in March of each year. It as first run in 1996 and since then it has become increasingly popular with trainers, fans and punters alike as it continues to attract some of the great horses from all over the globe. Past winners include greats such as Cigar in 1996, Dubai Millennium in 2000, Curlin in 2008 and Well Armed who won by a country mile in 2009.

The first winner of the big one was Cigar with the record time being held by Dubai Millennium who won in 2000 in 1:59.50 which is one of two winners who have broken the two minute barrier. American Hall of Famer Curlin is a legendary horse and he won in 2008 to cement his place in history.
